Nigerian Grammy award winner Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid or Starboy has gotten the
streets of social media and Nigerian rappers talking with his claim that rap is dead.
The ‘More Love Less Ego’ album producer gave his candid opinion in an interview about rap music, Music Heads
Africa reported that the singer said that he doesn’t listen to rap anymore because to him it’s dead and boring.
He continued that rap artists have become lazy doing the same thing with the same sound. Wizkid and Nigerian
rapper are now in a word battle.
Wizkid also noted that he has nothing against rap music just that he doesn’t listen to the genre anymore,
in the interview he stated that he would choose Afrobeat over rap.
When Nigerian rapper heard of Wizkid’s statement, it didn’t sit well with most of them and they called him
out saying it was insensitive and no matter what he thinks, Nigeria has a list of some of the best Rappers in the game.

Following Wizkid’s statement, his fans has come to defend him and according to some of them
Wizkid is only trying to push Nigerian Rappers to become better as it seems they’ve become too lazy.
Others claim that the singer asked rappers to send him videos is a way of giving them the opportunity for a collaboration,
wizkid and Nigerian rappers needs to chill.
While some praised the singer, others slammed him for discouraging the rappers working hard for their craft!
