Davido crowned the highest first-day streaming album. The Nigerian singer and record producer David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has taken first place for having the highest first-day stream. His new album TIMELESS promises to give fans a once-in-a-lifetime sound and has lived up to its promise.
TIMELESS when compared to other albums’ streaming numbers, took benched them with a gap. Davido’s return is marked with so many blessings coming his way. Despite taking some time away which according to his fans felt like ‘forever’, has returned with a show-stopping album.
The singer’s break from the public and social media was a result of losing his only son to the hands of d£4th. Since the incident occurred, the singer and his wife stayed off social media to mourn. But since his return, David appeared to be a new man and a musical be@st.
According to Spotify’s first-day streams, when compared to the three biggest artists in Nigeria Davido, Burna boy and Wizkid. Davido’s album ‘TIMELESS’ took the crown with a whopping 4.91 million Streams. While Burna boy’s ‘LOVE DAMINI’ came second with 1.36 million Streams, followed by Wizkid’s ‘MLLE’ with 1.21 million.
This doesn’t in any way take away from the talents of these artists. Who has worked tirelessly to put Afrobeat on the global map. From Burna boy’s Grammy award win and nominations, to Wizkid multiple international awards. One can say they’ve all paid their dues in one way and another. They’re collectively a symbol of inspiration to many young and upcoming artists. Despite being pit against each other during fan wars, they’ve all maintained a cordial relationship.
