The Karsh International Scholarship Program at Duke University gathers a cohort of intellectually and civically engaged international students committed to interdisciplinary inquiry, academic research, and scholarship in the service of society.
Established in 2010, the Karsh International Scholarship Program is a tribute to the remarkable contributions made by international scholars to Duke University. This program is made possible by the generous contribution of Martha L. and Bruce A. Karsh.
The Karsh Scholarship covers the following:
- Room and board
- Mandatory fees
- Demonstrated financial need that exceeds these costs
- Three summers of funding for research, unpaid internships, and other academic career advancement opportunities

The scholarship covers a wide range of fields including but not limited to Tourism, Accounting, Aerospace Engineering, Agriculture, Anthropology, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Banking, Biochemistry, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, History, Journalism, Law, Medicine, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Science, Software Engineering, and many more.
The scholarship is open to applicants from the following countries: Brazil, Chile, England, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Iran, Italy, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, South Korea, Tunisia, Vietnam, Wales, and Zimbabwe.
To be eligible for the Karsh Scholarship Program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be an international student
- Possess strong academic preparation and demonstrate financial need
- Have not obtained a B.A. or B.S. degree before beginning your studies at Duke University
